Bookmarks
Creating bookmarks in CubicNavigator is done is a similar way to most web browsers. The normal way is to add a bookmark representing the web address you are currently viewing. This can be done by choosing "Add Bookmark..." from the Bookmarks menu or just pressing command-D.
A bookmarks editing sheet will drop down over the window allowing you to change the name for the bookmark, as well as adding any keywords you would like to use for overlaying on the panorama or for searching (see Searching Bookmarks below).
You can also drag the small symbol to the left of the current web page address at the top of the window over into the bookmarks list. This method has the advantage of letting you position a bookmark, rather than simply adding it to the end of the list as above.
A black line with a circle on its left appears where the bookmark will be inserted when you let go of the mouse button. You can move the bookmark before you release it until you find the place you want it to go. If you drag on top of a folder name, the folder will expand, allowing to you position the bookmark in its hierarchy.
Yet another way of creating a bookmark is to click the "Add" button at the bottom of the bookmarks drawer. (The [+] button to the left of it creates a new bookmarks folder to let you organize bookmarks.)
Note: you can create a bookmark without first going to the web address it represents, but it means you have to type or cut & paste the address yourself.
Bookmarks are stored in a scrolling list, either in the main area or in folders one level deep. They can be moved to other positions in this list by dragging them to the new location. A black bar will indicate where a bookmark will be positioned when it is dropped.
(If the whole area has a black border, it means the bookmark will be placed at the end of the list.)
To edit a bookmark, click on it in the list, then click the "Edit" button at the bottom of the bookmarks drawer.
The edit sheet will drop down over the window showing the current information which you can then change.
Note: clicking on an unselected bookmark will also start loading the address the bookmark refers to. To edit bookmarks without having them loaded, refer to the section describing the Bookmarks Editing Window.
To export the current set of bookmarks, choose the menu command "Export Booksmarks..." from the Bookmarks menu. You will be prompted to choose a location to store the bookmarks file.
Bookmarks are stored in an XML format and the file can be opened and edited with any XML or text editor. (If you use the latter, be very careful to preserve the XML syntax, as otherwise bookmarks may be lost when re-imported.)
To clear all bookmarks from the list, choose "Clear Bookmarks..." from the Bookmarks menu. You will be prompted to confirm this action so that you don't inadvertently lose all your bookmarks.
To load a previously saved or editing bookmarks file, choose "Import Bookmarks..." from the Bookmarks menu. You will be prompted to locate the file.
The bookmarks the file contains will be added to the end of the existing bookmarks list. (To completely replace the old bookmarks, clear them first.)
Note: if you are loading a bookmarks file that has been manually edited in a text editor, take extra care it is still valid XML as incorrectly formatted text may fail to allow the bookmarks to be imported.
At the top of the bookmarks drawer is a search field. Typing something into this will cause the bookmarks list to be scanned and replaced with just those bookmarks containing the search text.
The list will update as you type. To end the search and redisplay all the bookmarks, click the "X" symbol at the right of the search field.
The parts of the bookmark that are searched include its name, web address, and any keywords that were entered when the bookmark was made. The search entry is treated as continuous text, not separate words. For example, entering the search term "eiffel tower" will NOT match bookmarks containing "Eiffel Hotel" or "Sydney Tower". It will however match "View of Eiffel Tower from the River Seine".
To see all of a bookmark's information or to edit one without having to first load it, choose the "Edit Bookmarks..." command from the Bookmarks menu.
The Edit Bookmarks window will appear and list all bookmarks in a separate window. These can then be edited.
There are 3 columns in the table: Bookmark, Keywords, and Location. To edit the contents of a bookmark entry, double-click on the text you want to change.
