Tutorial - Assembling Cube Faces into QuickTime VR Movie
Assembling Existing Cube Face Images into a cubic format QuickTime VR Movie
This tutorial shows how to take six 90°x90° cube face images and assemble them into a cubic format QuickTime VR movie. (If you would like to follow along with this tutorial, you can use the "sample cube faces" folder included in the download.)
Step 1
Open CubicConverter, or if it already running, click the "Conversion" tab to go to the Conversion area.
Step 2
Drag the folder of images into the empty conversion area. (You can also drag the six individual faces as a gropu and CubicConverter will guess that you are importing cube faces, but dragging the folder is a better habit to form.)

The cube face images will be loaded into the project and displayed as a folder icon in the middle of the conversion area. Information about the cube faces - their type and dimensions - will be displayed in the info panel on the right.

Step 3
Quickly check that the correct image is assigned to each cube face by clicking the tab to go to the "Cube Faces" area, then clicking sides of the cube face control.
When importing cube faces, the names should either reflect where the image belongs on the cube using an established convention, eg, "front, right, back" or "_FR, _RT, _BK" or should be sequentially numbered in the correct order - 1st image = front, 2nd = right, 3rd = back, 4th = left, 5th = top, and 6th = bottom. If an image has been incorrectly sequenced, you can either rename the images, or simply drag the required image directly to the cube face picture.
Step 4
To assemble into a movie, click the "Convert" button at the bottom of the window.

When completed you will be taken to the Movie area. You can now pan around the new QuickTime VR movie in the normal way by clicking and dragging.

You can now proceed to adjust movie settings or save the movie to disk.

Tip: You can also drop a folder onto the application icon in the Mac OS X Dock (or the application itself in Mac OS 9). You can also click the large square "Cube Faces" button at the top of the Conversion area to choose the folder/images from a file dialog.
