Chinese Gardens Tutorial Walk, part 3
This continues the CubicConnector 2.0 tutorial from part 2 describing how to create a 7-node scene showing a section of the walk through the Chinese Gardens in Sydney, Australia. This is part 3, it continues in part 4.
Step 16 - Move to the Connections area
Click the "Connections" tab to move to the connections area. (If you didn't choose "node001" in the last step, choose it now from the Node popup menu.)
A movie containing the hotspots you defined in the previous steps will be assembled and displayed on the left of the window.

Underneath this movie is a "Hotspots" popup which allows each of the hotspots to be selected. (To the immediate right of the popup is a button which, similar to the Node popup, selects the next hotspot in sequence. When there are no more hotspots, this button dims.)
Step 17 - Select the first hotspot
Select the first hotspot, either by choosing it from the Hotspot popup, or by click the "go to next hotspot" at its right.
The first hotspot should swing into view and be approximately centered in the movie. When a hotspot is selected, the "Destination" popup becomes active.
Step 18 - Choose the first hotspot destination
The space on the right of the window shows the destination of the selected hotspot. Underneath this space is the Destination popup which allows you to select which node the hotspot links to.
The button to the right of this popup is different to the Node and Hotspot popups. Here it toggles a "visual list" of the available destinations.
The thumbnails in this list correspond to the first face from each of the respective nodes. If you are familiar with the movies, they can serve as a visual reminder to the appropriate node. Clicking a thumbnail in this list has the same effect as choosing an item from the Destination popup menu.
To choose the destination for the first hotspot, select "node002" either from the popup or the visual list.
Step 19 - Orientate the destination movie
When "node002" is first loaded, it will display the default view of the node, which is facing towards the lake. To make it match the hotspot, move the view of the QuickTime VR movie to the left.

When the destination movie shows the desired view, you don't need to do anything more. CubicConnector will automatically remember the view.
Step 20 - Choose the next hotspot
Choose the second hotspot of node001 by clicking the "go to next hotspot" button to the right of the Hotspots popup. Hotspot 2 will swing into view.
Step 21 - Choose the destination movie for hotspot 2
Choose "node003" either from the Destination popup or the visual node list.

You can leave the entry view as it is. This completes the hotspot connections for node001.
Step 22 - Go to node002 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node002" from the Node popup menu, or simply click the "go to next node" button next to the popup.
Choose Hotspot 1 using the "go to next hotspot" button. Then connect it to "node003" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 2, connect it to "node001" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 3, connect it to "node007" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Step 23 - Go to node003 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node003" either from the Destination popup or the visual node list. Then choose Hotspot 1 using the "go to next hotspot" button. Then connect it to "node002" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 2 using the "go to next hotspot" button. Then connect it to "node001" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 3 using the "go to next hotspot" button. Then connect it to "node004" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Step 24 - Go to node004 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node004" then choose Hotspot 1 using the "go to next hotspot" button. Then connect it to "node005" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 2 then connect it to "node003" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Choose Hotspot 3 then connect it to "node002" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Step 25 - Go to node005 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node005" and select Hotspot 1. Then connect it to "node006" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Select Hotspot 2 then connect it to "node004" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Select Hotspot 3 then connect it to "node002" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Step 26 - Go to node006 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node006" and select Hotspot 1. Then connect it to "node007" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Select Hotspot 2 then connect it to "node005" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Select Hotspot 3 then connect it to "node002" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Step 27 - Go to node007 and connect its hotspots
Choose "node007" and select Hotspot 1. Then connect it to "node006" and orientate it to the view shown below.

Select Hotspot 2 then connect it to "node002" and orientate it to the view shown below.

This completes connecting each hotspot to a corresponding destination. The next step is to assemble a multinode preview movie.
